Arrive in Paro & Evening Bird Walk
Transfer to your lodge. Introductory evening bird walk along the Paro River to spot wagtails, dippers, and forktails.
Paro Valley Birding
Full-day birding in the Paro Valley. Look for Himalayan monal, blood pheasant, and various thrushes. Visit the iconic Tiger's Nest Monastery.
Paro to Thimphu via Chele La Pass
Drive over Chele La Pass (3,988 m) with stops for high-altitude birding. Search for lammergeiers, Himalayan griffons, and alpine accentors. Arrive in Thimphu.
Thimphu to Phobjikha Valley
Scenic drive to the glacial Phobjikha Valley. Evening birding around the wetland sanctuary — prime habitat for black-necked cranes in winter.
Phobjikha Full-Day Birding
Explore the valley's forests and wetlands. Target species include the rufous-necked hornbill, beautiful nuthatch, and various laughingthrushes.
Phobjikha to Punakha
Descend into the subtropical Punakha Valley. Afternoon birding along the Mo Chhu River — look for white-bellied heron and ibisbill.
Punakha to Paro
Return drive with birding stops en route. Farewell dinner and review of the bird species spotted throughout the week.
Depart from Paro
