One of Bhutan's most spectacular high-altitude treks, the Jomolhari Base Camp journey takes you to the foot of the sacred Mount Jomolhari (7,326m), revered as the abode of the goddess Jomo. This challenging trek traverses remote valleys, crosses high mountain passes, and offers intimate encounters with pristine alpine wilderness, traditional yak herder communities, and breathtaking views of some of the Himalayas' most dramatic peaks.

Day-by-Day Itinerary

01

Arrive in Paro (2,200m)

Transfer to your hotel. Equipment check and trek briefing with your guide. Evening walk through Paro town and welcome dinner.

Paro to Shana (2,800m)

Drive to Drukgyel Dzong and begin trekking. Follow the Paro Chhu river through charming villages and terraced fields. Camp overnight at Shana amidst pine forests.

Shana to Thangthangkha (3,610m)

Steady ascent through dense rhododendron and oak forests. Cross tributary streams and enjoy increasing views of the surrounding peaks. The trail enters alpine territory.

Thangthangkha to Jangothang (4,090m)

The trail climbs steadily with spectacular views of Mount Jomolhari appearing as you gain elevation. Camp at Jangothang with an iconic view of the mountain's north face.

Jangothang Acclimatization & Base Camp Hike

Acclimatization day with an exhilarating hike to Jomolhari Base Camp (5,130m). Walk alongside yak herders, cross glacial streams, and stand at the foot of the sacred mountain. Return to Jangothang for the night.

Jangothang to Tshorim Lake (4,500m)

Trek eastward to the beautiful Tshorim Lake, surrounded by alpine meadows and dramatic peaks. The trail offers optional side hikes to smaller glacial lakes and viewpoints.

Tshorim Lake to Thimphu via Bhonte La Pass

Cross the Bhonte La Pass at 4,200m with sweeping views of the Himalayas. Descend through alpine forests and meadows to the road head, then drive to Thimphu.

Thimphu Exploration

Rest and explore Bhutan's capital. Visit the majestic Tashichho Dzong, the National Memorial Chorten, and the weekend market. Evening farewell dinner with cultural performances.

Depart from Paro

Morning transfer to Paro International Airport for departure, carrying the spirit of the Himalayas with you forever.
